hey, im going to have a compo on northamericanhardcore, called (tentatively) "dissed by the qfs" or something like that, for all the people that sent in good tracks to micromusic or news to them or whatever, and just get refused and austracized (sp?)
i personally have tried to become a part of the micromusic community, but i dont suck lektrogirls nipple or some shit like that, and im not cylob (wanker!)
but so anyways, this is a call for tracks for this compo!
preferably ANY style besides that dumb crap that micromusic pushes, no stupid 80s covers, or car-fetishist shit with pixelart and fake retro-attitude... its 2005, for gods sake!
so yeah, i know there are a bunch of you out there, who have felt left out! well its time to feel left in!

...well, as long as they are gameboy or atari or c64 or whatever, you want express some sort of sentiment about micromusic or the qfs or "the scene" in general, but if something doesnt really fit into that, that is ok!
i mean, any track by someone that feels like contributing to the "anti-micromusic compo"
uh, yeah, im just going to shut up.
oh, p.s. northamericanhardcore is a "low-bitrate label", so the tracks will probably be encoded to <64kbps ogg vorbis mono, so if you send them to me like that, it'll save me the trouble of reencoding them

hi, this is lektrogirl but i dont have a live journal so i have to post anonymously. i'm not speaking on anyone else's behalf, these are my own views. this is not an official micromusic statement or anything.firstly - it would be nice to have had my nipple sucked by all the artists who tracks have made it past the qfs, but im afraid that it hasn't happened once :(
i think it is great that for people who haven't been included in the micromusic database have decided to set up an alternative. i also wonder though if the most people here who have posted on the thread are american? it is sad to think that you think that there is some scene that is excluding you - cause that is no-one's intention. i mean you do realise that everything that happens - the parties, events, competitions, releases, meetings and even the micromusic website all happen because people play without fee, cover the cost of their own travel, programme for free, qfs for free, chase funding for free and just do stuff to make things happen. perhaps you can enlighten me on your feelings about that? i don't know - i didnt recognise everyone's names.
in the meantime tho' to increase people success rates with uploads to micromusic.net i can also give you some insider info [only from my point of view] about the uploads that the qfs gets to vote on.
- a high percentage of tracks that i have had to listen to to vote on aren't recorded / encoded well enough. i have contacted people when i liked a track and told them to resubmit something if i really like it but if they sound bad, there is nothing we can do to fix them at our end. the recording has to be tight.
- some of the files are just too big. there is a 5MB limit.
- don't upload the same song 5 times with just different "tweaks" to the recording. it is mega annoying. upload it when the track is finished.
basically if you can manage those three then you stand a good chance!
- usually there is a back log of a couple of months, like january's uploads will get online in march or so.
i also think that you are wrong with your claims about the musical genre micromusic accepts. when i was regularly qfsing [there are usually four people who vote on each 100 or so uploads micromusic.net per month] there would be big arguments over the tracks that got accepted sometimes. we all liked different things. and i think the stuff that got accepted gives a good representation of each peoples different tastes as well as a good representation of what was being uploaded at the time. there was definitely no kind of "style sheet" given to me to keep in mind when considering my votes. [unlike this competition here that already has ruled out quite a few musical styles and only includes music written on particular instruments i might add.] occaisionally there would be uploads that i got to hear that i would suck and i use them to DJ with. but no more than i would find from checking through peoples info when they are online or from microlinks.
i would encourage everyone who uploads tracks to micromusic to continue to do so. i also look forward to hearing all the tracks that get post here in the antimicromusic compo. the funny thing is though this competition can't really be antimicromusic - cause what you are doing is totally micromusic - people just start doing their own thing... good luck!

friendly competitiveness
overthruster's noble cause has been misguided by all of our personal comments..the idea is still good, but it would be nice if it was a more frendly competitivness,..we can still insult eachother for fun (no short jokes,my napoleonic complex is legendary...)even nipple and small penises(er..not that i know about the last one..honest..)are fair game...but we're all doing this for the love & glory of electronic music & not the $$... and good thing coz i don't think there's much(read:any) to go round this scene right now..for anyone on this jounal anyways..but overthrusters original beef wasn't $$...it got diverted there by lektrogirls comment...the same w the nationalities conversation i must say...but lektrogirl had to reply cos there was some personal stuf on o/t's 1st post...
i talked to lektro on mm and i don't think she's one of the axis of evil...theree must be someone more deserving of our ire..
there's this guy called B Hanson...
we all way to likely to end up at a show together one day.., or somehow professionally...

damn i love prince, that is a very sexy cover of maybe my favorite song of his.but i dont like the videogame sounds, i hate that shit, why do people have to throw that crap in there? woo, its mario jumping during the prince song, how AUTHENTIC
just because someone is using an electribe doesnt mean they have to wank off the global delay, and just because a track is "chippy" doesnt mean you have to put jumping and coin sounds everywhere
its too bad, the beats and music are good, and i like the vocals
and thanks for telling us all about how you got on micromusic, im assuming you're trying to say you don't want to be in the compo ?

Hey, Whats the point in exchanging insults and pointless agression? Whats the point of attacking Lektrogirl just for being part of qsf or micromusic? I myself felt dissed by QFS, but still micromusic is a great site. When I started thinking none of my tracks would pass the qsf I lose part of my enthusiasm on both micromusic and all the scene, just the good feedback of people with my page, music and pure love on gameboy, chip sound and electronic music held me ahead... I'm from argentina and have no chance too meet people in micromusic events nowhere... I'm poor too and don't have a proper job neither.. But thats no reason to blame or insult anyone... I think being signed by a music company dont make you a bad person. For many time I only had the nano and an old pc. I had to sell a mc 303 I used for years to buy some backup cart and set. I still dont have money enught to register lsdj properly. I'm not asking for charity, thank you :) Whats the point to say anyone is sell out or going just behind money? I'm not going against thruster, lektro or cylob. I want to share my music with people, and is good to talk with gameboy or whatever chippy musicians are hanging out there in front of the computer or some crowd. Please people, don't split this scene between american, european, chippy, or hardcore? I love music, chips and toys, are we agreed in something? Why do some peps segregate nanoloop???? >:( I'm a poor nanolooper! Why to call me "SQUISHY" ? FUCK OFF! I even thought to move to GB cam or music box/ carrillon. This don't mean I will not use that tools too... 8Cylinder tools rocks too :) Stop discrimination on nano, squishiness, 80-ness, mario related or no fx using...
